Breastmilk is the best for babies. The World Health Organisation recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life. Unnecessary introduction of bottle feeding or other food and drinks will have a negative impact on breastfeeding. After six months of age, infants should receive age-appropriate foods while breastfeeding continues for up to two years of age or beyond. Consult your doctor before deciding to use infant formula or if you have difficulty breastfeeding.
In the first two weeks of the pregnancy cycle, the fertilized ovum develops in the mother’s ovary. It will then make its way through the oviduct to the uterus.
Pregnancy starts after the last menstrual cycle when the ovum is fertilized. This marks the beginning of a new chapter in the life of a woman.
Women who are trying to conceive should take care of their health, remembering to have a balanced diet for optimal growth conditions for the baby. Folic acid should be taken at the beginning (and even before) and throughout the pregnancy as this vitamin helps to prevent birth defects in your baby’s brain and spinal cord. Your doctor will give you folic acid supplements in the recommended amount for your consumption.
